This crush--patterned flooring--might be better described as a fling. I'm obsessed with the idea, but don't know if I can make the commitment.
I remember ogling the amazing patterned tile I saw in Rome--so intricate and sometimes bold in colour, and yet it acted as a neutral backdrop to the design of the room. Now I love seeing it being used in North America, as a modern-eclectic statement.
Of course a patterned floor doesn't have to come from just tile. Painted hardwood and concrete are also a cool alternative.
