When Kristin first approached me about decorating her baby girl's nursery, I immediately knew it would have to be sweet to reflect her beautiful (growing) family! However, it was also important that the shell of the room remain neutral so it could easily transition from baby, to potential guest room. I was also conscious of making this room flow consistently with the rest of her home--an explosion of bubblegum pink would stand out like a sore thumb in her neutral, nautical-inspired decor.

First thing first, I wanted to add architectural interest. I did so by mimicking bead-board with a simple plate-rail trim, and painting it out in Cloud White CC-40. This is an easy and inexpensive way of creating depth in a standard bedroom. Edgecomb Gray HC-173 was painted above the plate-rail--a grey/beige with a very slight hint of a pink undertone.

Staying within a modest budget, we prioritized on luxe fabrics like the beautiful curtains, and rocking chair cushion. This was also the jumping off point for the sophisticated colour scheme. I couldn't resist adding a pop of pink completely, so we had a vintage dresser (handed down from Kristin's Great Grandmother!) painted in Fusion's Little Piggy by Sweet Finds Reclaiming. Custom bunting by Ollie and Lu added a bit of quirky, and I love the softness of the crib netting. Hits of vintage, like the lamps, and a homeowner who isn't afraid of a little DIY (like the re-purposed chandelier) helped keep the project under budget, and created a room full of character, and love!
